Cairo (UNA-OIC) – Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit met here on Monday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is currently on a visit to Egypt.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, foremost of which was the Palestinian cause, as well as the situations in Syria, Yemen and Libya. They also discussed the developments related to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
Meanwhile, the Arab League chief praised the initiative announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to end the Yemeni crisis, considering it a positive step towards a comprehensive solution, according to an Arab League statement.
