You Want to Mesh with Uncle Sham?

The Pentagon used its weather weapon to create the Afghan drought?

Background: Between 1994 and 1996, the Taliban picked up the broken pieces of Afghanistan left behind by Soviet troops, in a vacuum left behind by a victory of American covert policy. Although “The Seekers” brought relative stability to the greatest part of the country, much of their energy went on battles with the Russian-linked opposition in the North, and imposing a quixotic religious tyranny on their own territory.

Still, it is curious that their government, controlling over 90% of the country, was never recognized by the international community, which continually decreased its assistance to Afghanistan after 1995. Aid agencies cite the intolerance and inflexibility of the Taliban, whose name hints at the problem: like students, the Taliban remained naively independent of the ways of the world [1] . They did not “grow up” and “learn to play ball.” They were – a rogue state, not because their human rights record was worse than other despotisms, but because they did not react to carrot and stick management.

The classic covert action scenario used by the US when faced with such independence in Latin America is pretty well known: destabilize the country with sanctions, send in contras, finance them with drug dealing, and then attack militarily, with an impossible ultimatum and Soviet infiltration – read terrorism these days – for a pretext [2].

Refusing diplomatic recognition was a first step to destabilizing Afghanistan. That alone made the Taliban an obstacle to foreign investment, such as the proposed Unocal oil pipeline from the Caspian to the Indian Ocean [3]. Yet this was not nearly enough leverage on the hard-headed Taliban. In April 1998, in an article entitled “Like It or Not, the Taliban Occupies Two-Thirds of Afghanistan and Shows No Sign of Weakening”, a Washington Report writer asked: “Who is willing or able to challenge the Taliban’s absolute power?” [4]

In August 1998 came attacks on two US embassies in Africa, countered by a failed cruise missile attack on a bin Laden training camp in Afghanistan (and the “successful” destruction of Sudan’s pharmaceutical factory, a grave “blunder” that America never admitted or apologized for, although it was a telling blow to that largely Muslim country’s welfare). By October, 1999, the US declared political and economical sanctions against the Taliban for harboring Osama bin Laden.

It is well-known that the refuge a Pashto tribe extends to a guest is a sacred honor, to be defended in blood, not to mention mere sanctions. Are the Afghans just too free-spirited to co-exist with the Empire of Hegemoney?

Around this time, an unnatural series of natural disasters began to rain ruin on the poor folk of Afghanistan. First came three severe earthquakes, in February 1998, May 1998 and February 1999, killing tens of thousands. More damaging still was the drought, starting in the winter of 1998-1999 and deepening the following winter, uprooting several million war-tired refugees again. Afghanistan is in the throes of its worst drought for thirty years, if not the worst on record [5].

Summer 1998 also brought a bad drought to the USA, whose government nonetheless continued to resist the Kyoto Protocol on reducing global warming. One explanation fits the paradox: the US has been working on a military system to control the weather, called HAARP. The US wouldn’t care to comply on Kyoto if it were planning to control the weather anyway, or if its own 1998 drought were part of testing HAARP, or if the US and Russia now agreed that hotter weather strengthened their hand versus the “South”, the Third World and Islamic countries.

The most oft-cited book on military climate manipulation is “Angels Don’t Play this HAARP – Advances in Tesla Technology”. In an online summary called “The Military’s Pandora’s Box” [6], the authors relate that “Looking at ways to cause earthquakes, as well as to detect them, was part of the project named Prime Argus, decades ago… In 1994 the Air Force revealed its Spacecast 2020 master plan which includes weather control.”

Authors Begich and Manning, as well as proud patent-holder Eastlund, confirm that HAARP can be used as a weather weapon. It pierces the ionospheric shield with a transmitter operating on Tesla’s magnetic resonance principles, thus allowing far too much radiation to reach target regions of the earth.

Accordingly, the 1960’s weather weapon pioneer Dr. MacDonald, a UCLA geophysicist and member of the President’s Science Advisory Committee, noted: “The key to geophysical warfare is the identification of environmental instabilities to which the addition of a small amount of energy would release vastly greater amounts of energy” – with the concomitant “advantage” that such weapons will be “virtually undetectable by their victims”. Clever man.

The most succinct overview of the HAARP threat on the Internet is by Canadian professor Michel Chossudovsky. He quotes security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, who wrote in the 1970’s that “Technology will make available, to the leaders of major nations, techniques for conducting secret warfare, of which only a bare minimum of the security forces need be appraised… Techniques of weather modification could be employed to produce prolonged periods of drought or storm.” [7]

The Pentagon persists in pretending that HAARP is innocuous [8] , but the independent experts all agree that with HAARP, the US and maybe Russia have had the capability for years to create droughts and earthquakes and destabilize groups like the Taliban – by creating the biggest humanitarian catastrophe in the world today. [9]

Question is, did they do it?

Chossudovsky wrote: “the technology is being perfected under the High-frequency Active Aural Research Program (HAARP) as part of the (‘Star Wars’) Strategic Defence Initiative (SDI). Recent scientific evidence suggests that HAARP is fully operational and has the ability of potentially triggering floods, droughts, hurricanes and earthquakes. From a military standpoint, HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction…. it could be applied by the US military to selectively modify the climate of an ‘unfriendly nation’ or ‘rogue state’ with a view to destabilizing its national economy”.

Was the target really terror and bin Laden? The evidence against him remains thin, yet the US ultimatum is negotiable only with bombs. Were the attacks denied by Osama part of a CIA conspiracy against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan? [10] By pure chance, one such case has evaded the paper shredder and come to the light of day: the Joint Chief of Staffs plot to provoke war with Cuba by unleashing terror attacks on U.S. cities in 1962. [11]

Militant Islam has replaced communism as the radical ideology, the world’s only major political movement that is not for sale to American influence, and the Taliban have been one of its spearheads. Neutralizing them must be a top priority for US imperialism, but diplomatic isolation, drought and cruise missiles had no effect. Weeks before the Trade Tower attacks, Bush officials met with Pakistan in a push to replace the Taliban, the Guardian reported [12] – also without results.

As in all of our foreign wars, a big incident was needed to muster public support for escalation up to a massive intervention to crush Afghanistan bodily. The WTC and anthrax attacks are exactly what a shameless Uncle Sham would need. Be warned, old world: war hysteria is at flood tide here, our sky is dark with the stars and stripes, and the anthrax case is open-ended. A pretext for attack can be easily fabricated against any target of America’s choosing.

Next to HAARP, set down the CIA or Pentagon as a Prime Suspect in the latest chapter of Terror on Terror. The United Nations, world media and independent researchers need to thoroughly investigate them both.

If it is found out that we are creating catastrophes with HAARP, thus risking the future of the planet, or if covert “friendly fire” helped fell the World Trade Center, there is only one consequential conclusion: it is high time to disband the United States of America.

The only remotely self-defensive war we ever fought, where the states did need to band together, was our very first one, the Revolution of 1776-1783. Since then, the USA has always provoked wars of aggrandizement it could only win. There is no need or room for a superpower anywhere near our homes, nor on our planet! Devolve those B-52’s to 52 loosely confederated states, along the lines of the EU or the CIS – that is the only way to make the world safe for democracy!

Once upon a fairy time, I knew America helped and protected our little friends, the peoples of other lands. The Air Force and Marines defended them from despots, this I knew, because my cereal boxes told it true. Older, sadder and more cynical now, I survey the short timeline of our history. Our armed force has done its worst to bomb and break the very spirit of every proud people that crossed its path, the Sioux, German, Japanese, Cuban, Vietnamese, Iraqi, Russian, Chechen, Afghan peoples must behave as supine pavements for expanding franchises of the American Way, while others squirm under corrupt but “friendly” narcomafiocracies.

Crush the people, Bushie boy, until they will have any bloody government that cooperates.

Yet alas, our planet is small, and greed is great. Like an alien, the monster we created is turning on us now, on our own rights, in this wasteland it has made, the land of the cowardly, and home of the media slave.

Orwell, farewell!

Conclusion: Whether you like them or not (I found them more Seekers than Finders) the Taliban have been set up for the same fate that met other maverick Third World politicians and movements over the years, like Mossadegh, Castro, Allende, or the Sandinistas.

A generation ago, Russia backed the Arabs. Today’s US-USSR pact to crush Islam in Chechnya and Afghanistan was predicted by George Orwell’s model of a permanent war of shifting fronts between three world blocs. An alliance between the Islamic world and the fourth bloc, China, would be a natural, given China’s great manufacturing prowess, manpower, and appetite for oil.
